In a bizarre collaboration that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.

The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Transformations

The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a striking moment showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside multiple objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Addition

This release also adds the game's third free story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Anime Collaborations

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
