It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her newest gem.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
